Re: Remote oil tank level monitoring OilPal

Thank you - that seems to do exactly the same thing, so is perfect.

Remote oil tank level monitoring OilPal

We've had great experience with OilPal by Dunraven but they have just emailed to say they are ending the service at the end of the year. Does anyone have any other solutions for remote monitoring of their oil tank? My previous one spoke to its own modem which was plugged into the internet router but...

Sorry - late reply, haven’t been on here much in lockdown. We’ve been listed on Sally’s for about 8 years and have stuck with them because we’ve had very good levels of bookings. We’ve been happy with how they’ve managed the lockdowns too.

Amazon sell 'first aid kit refills'. If you want a less nickable pack - put one of these into an old ice cream tub or suchlike. Though we have a simple Ikea one, that we just top up from one of these refills.

I had one like this, along with photos that made it clear the guests were staying in a house just down the road. I replied politely suggesting it was misattributed (with link of where they could find valid reviews for us, as most are not on Google), and I also reported the post as misleading. It dis...

Thank you all for your thoughts. From the mildly aggressive tone of some responses, I can see that the potential eavesdropping aspect is more of an issue for some people than I had realised; although of course if you really wanted to spy on your guests there are subtler ways of doing it (all of whic...

Given that they are listening devices, do you really want something in your property being used by people you don't know, saying stuff over which you have no control? Or is that too "Big Brother" to be believable? I'm not sure I get your point. I can imagine that some guests won't like it...

Holiday cottage smart speakers (Amazon Echo/Google Home)

Hello all, Some of the current deals are tempting me into putting Amazon Echo speakers into our cottage (we have them at home). I'm interested in whether others have and how it has gone down. Specific thoughts I'm pondering: 1. We have an internet radio in the kitchen by Pure; it's fiddly to use - E...

Thanks Newtimber. We've stuck with BT business as the internet is our #1 problem area and their new 4G assure has already proved useful in flagging up when there are problems. Our 4G signal is pretty weak, but it's still been enough to alert BT (and us) when the Broadband has dropped out. They also ...

Energy and Water - business or domestic

We've recently moved our phone/broadband from a domestic to a business account. It was cheaper on renewal and for 24 months but is now more expensive, though the service is so much easier to access and more effective (BT Business). I've realised that my water and energy accounts could also be on bus...
