If I could actually get Clévacances to come out and visit my property, perhaps I could take them too. I've contacted them three times now, they are always very interested, and even made an appointment, which they didn't keep.

Just found some emailw which suggested that I need to register with the local tourist office. As they are particularly difficult about owners taking their own bookings and having websites, I am loathe to do so.

Enid, according to the email I got from them, it was 200€ for the first year, and then 80€ after that. They inspect every three years . I'm reconsidering jumping through the required hoops, as we will get a label of quality without any difficulty according to the email.

Yes I stopped with GdF as they were expensive but now I am building up my publicity in France I do miss having a quality mark to use.

I contacted ANCV a couple of years ago to find out about cheques vacances but decided not to bother as they take a 2% cut with a minimum of 5 euros (or something of the sort).
As only one guest has asked if we take cheques vacances since that time, and they booked anyway even when I told them we didn't, I'm glad I didn't bother.
ANCV told me to contact my Gites de France office (I had told ANCV we were with GdF) if I did want to join up as I would have to go through them, not ANCV directly.
GdF fees seem to vary enormously from one departmental "relais" to another. Clévacances are similarly divided into "relais" but I've no idea whether their pricing policy is national or regional. 80€ from year two seems incredibly cheap - I would go for it! _________________ Chambres d'hotes Normandie

I found this while looking for info on Clévacances cotisations:
http://www.ladepeche.fr/article/2008/01/28/429569-Lot-Tourisme-Clevacances-tente-de-retenir-ses-adherents.html

I don't think having a 'quality mark' is as important as it used to be pre internet for gites. Most people can make a pretty good judgement from the photos on a website if a place is quality enough for them. I've never been asked by punters what grade my gites are (in fact two of them would be ungraded due to non conformity G de F criteria) despite the heated pool etc. _________________ Child friendly Brittany Cottages and Gites with heated pool
