Does email notification work for you? - please let me know

Post by paolo »

Has anyone had any success getting email notification when someone replies to a topic you have posted in?

A couple of people have said it didn't work and I want to find out if it is a software problem or email filtering.

Thanks for any feedback.

no joy for me!

I use the "posts since your last visit" then I get carried away, reply to something and have backtrack using the "back browser" button to find the messages I haven't read again..

Working fine here (as in, it always has, if you've changed anything today)

Also, works if I select the 'watch this thread' option too.

v strange :(

Thanks Tony, I think that must mean it is not a software problem but an email filtering issue.

I thought it worked until I read the above!! I seem to get 2 or 3 emails a day about the topics I'm watching so I've got no complaints. Makes you feel popular if nothing else!!

I'm not a techie, but could the emails be getting caught up in ultra-sensitve spam checking devices? I've had that with one or two bona fide emails from other sources.

Christine,

I think that is what is happening. The software for this forum is widely used and sends out standard emails - because these emails are so often received they are perhaps being tagged as spam by filters.

Paolo,

The answer is NO! I have never had an e-mail notification of a new posting on any subject of the Forum.

Other Forums with the phpBB engine do give me notification of new postings when I am "watching" a subject or thread.

ALan,

Please could you email me one of these emails you get from another phpbb forum - I'd like to see if the wording is different, as there may be a word or words tripping a spam filter.

Thanks!

Doesn't seem to be working for me. We have Mailwasher and it's not showing up in there. Not in my Norton AntiSpam folder either.
