France has finally joined the 20th century and dropped the whole "Madame/Mademoiselle" nonsense on official forms.
Hurray!

Fail to see why it's okay to demand details of my personal life when men are spared the intrusion.

I used to alternate between Mademoiselle and Madame depending on how I felt on the day! But in reality, once you are over 25 you are no longer Mademoiselle, even if you aren't married. We all get older - I realised I was past it when I went for an x-ray a couple of months ago and the radiographer didn't bother to ask me if there was a risk I might be pregnant beforehand Laughing
