That is what happens when you go ice skating at 40.
1 hour in surgery, 3 pins, 6 weeks in plaster. _________________ www.vendeeblog.net |

My sympathies Ju. I stopped going iceskating cos I wanted to keep go skiing-two friends had to cancel ski trips after their wrists were broken. A work colleague had a sister with two broken wrists and a daughter with one on the same weekend.
Hope everyone is looking after you. |

Wimp! Pull yourself together, man! Are you an LMH-er or a mouse? (No offense Mousie!)
I started skiing at 40 and riding at 45 and I've had:
Umpteen broken ribs
Broken collar bone
Broken fibula
Broken hand
Dislocated forefinger
Chipped shoulder
etc etc etc
Lots of sympathy, Ju, it hurts like hell doesn't it? Gin is an excellent painkiller.

I started riding at 38 and so far all I've had is a very bruised coxis.
I can't ride with a broken arm though.
I can't iron either. _________________ www.vendeeblog.net |

There you are then, every cloud has a silver lining!
Bummer about the riding though.

As the veteran of many breaks, sprains and strains (though not as many as Mols) you have my sympathy Ju.
I don't joke when I say that certain staff recognise me now at our local Nuffield hospital |

Oh Ju, that's my worst nightmare. Hope you're not feeling too sorry for yourself - 6 weeks will go really fast ....
If I was nearer I would offer to help with the ironing, especially with your roller iron _________________ Family friendly gites in Brittany with covered heated pool |

Bad luck Ju,but these things can happen anywhere any time (as LV has proved!)
My MIL broke her collar bone tripping over a tree stump....
Hope you sort a back up plan quickly and wish you a speedy recovery. _________________ Norfolk Coastal Holidays

Ju I know how you feel, the worst thing is knowing that you're stuck with the damn cast for 6-weeks, your arms going to go really thin and weak, it'll itch like hell (knitting needles do work), everyone will sign it and draw on it and it'll look a right eye sore, don't ask about those plastic things for having showers to stop it getting wet - it will! Which side do you sleep on? it'll go really heavy in the night...
Sorry, I do know I've broken my arms 3-times, both ankles twice, dislocated collar bone (I was nine cycing not looking where I was going and ran into a parked car).
Last weekend I was working on new decking in the garden and put my electric drill bit through my left thumb nail and out the otherside, I still held the trigger and it was going round and round - perfect hole you could see daylight - 2 stitches. The next day I fired a 1 1/2 inch nail through my kneecap with a nailgun, got an infection and now on 2 types of antibios. decking not even half finished....
Get well soon.
