Pepsi, beware big time if you download Photoscape. I did, yesterday, and clicked NO to the Babylon toolbar.
During the installation my browser (Chrome) closed, then when it reopened bloody Babylon was everywhere - default search engine, browser home page and goodness knows where else. Removing anything Babylon in add/remove programs did no good at all, and it took me some serious research (it's a common gripe, apparently) to find out how to remove all traces of it. So tread carefully! _________________ Maison d'hotes in the French Pyrenees

I have visited photoscape and started the download process but it seems to want me to download the Babylon toolbar - did you do that Lorca? |
I didn´t have anything like that - they give you 3 options to download with - which did you use? _________________ If not now, when?

Oh crikey!! Good job I got out of it before that happened - I had a feeling it was trouble.
Lorca: not sure what I did regarding options. Might go in again treading carefully! I use google chrome as a browser so maybe I would have the same problem as FC. What is your browser? _________________ For true domestic harmony it is essential that dogs know their place, which is below all cats

I do have to say though that Photoscape looks like a useful bit of kit, so thanks for the heads up, lorca! |
Thank you, FC. I think I need to wait till my guru returns from hols..!! I am of course a well known technoprat

No apology necessary Lorca. As FC says it looks like a really useful bit of kit and I am glad to know about it. I am sure we can sort out a Babylon-free version _________________ For true domestic harmony it is essential that dogs know their place, which is below all cats

What a bu88er , pepsi. This is what I did:
Go to control panel, add/remove programs, and remove anything to do with Babylon.
From the chrome browser, click on the wrench in the top right hand corner, then Settings. You need to change a few things here:
1. under 'on start up', you'll find that the 'open a specific page' button is checked to open babylon; click the 'set pages' link and put it back to how you like it.
2. Under 'Search', Babylon has been set as default. Click 'manage search engines, hover over Babylon until you see the x, then click the x to remove it altogether. Then re-set Google or whatever you use as default.
3. Under 'Appearance', Babylon has set itself as your 'home' page. Click 'change' and change it back to your previous home page.
I think that was all.
Good luck! _________________ Maison d'hotes in the French Pyrenees

Hi FC
Thank you - seems to have fixed it.
I would have thought that it broke some sort of rules /internet protocol to invade someone's computer like this? _________________ For true domestic harmony it is essential that dogs know their place, which is below all cats

Thank you for that response Babylon but I would have preferred not to have Babylon invade my space UNINVITED in the first place as I am pretty sure that this not good practice in your industry. _________________ For true domestic harmony it is essential that dogs know their place, which is below all cats

Back on FB land -
As I keep asking - What is it for?
Why do you want to be liked by complete strangers? Or even dozens of other LMHatters?
What does it achieve?

Being liked by LMH'ters was a way of increasing the number of likes and the potential audience of the page.
Being liked by complete strangers - a possibility of them booking with you at some stage as they get updates on your place.
The most important to me is being liked by future and past guests as it is a reminder that you are there and can lead to repeat bookings. You also get feedback from previous guests on your page which can lead to new bookings. I'm not saying it is the most effective method of advertising, but it isn't time consuming, doesn't do any harm at all and can lead to bookings so for me it is worth it. _________________ Child friendly Brittany Cottages and Gites with heated pool
