Well, having read all of your comments to make sure it wasn't a scam of any kind (thanks Forum), I have just created my listing on theholidaylet.com. I had a direct email from them offering me two free years' listing, so it's worth a go. I'll let you all know how I get on - particularly if it leads to any bookings.

Just spotted this thread. I've listed with them since quite a long time ago and had one booking worth £450 for New Year 2009/2010. So it's worked out well for me. No recent enquiries though.

Ooops. I really should be more thorough! I've just checked again after I received another enquiry this week which quickly turned into a 2-week booking. Now I find, that those New Year people booked again a year later and there have been 3 other bookings through TheHolidayLet that I hadn't spotted. That's 6 bookings from 3 free listings. Not bad eh?

What about bunging them some dough, to raise their spirits and reward their work?

Hi All
Ive just had 2 enquiries from theholidaylet for next year, would seem a little odd as these were within a couple of hours of each other, but I think theyre genuine as I ve just had a phone call as well from 1 of the enquirerers, but the dates are booked.

Maybe theyre doing a publicity splurge Smile

Well Im impressed Smile

Craig....thl...... has just contacted me

Hi Ros,
A quick email regarding your recent enquiries.

Liz and I had a look at them as it seemed a bit odd that you got 2 in such a short period of time. While the email addresses could be dubious (yahoo and hotmail – which can be obtained easily), both enquirers have left seemingly genuine contact tel. numbers.

It’s a bit strange though, so we advise some caution, just to be safe...............................

Best wishes,

Craig at theholidaylet

I think its great that a rental site keeps an eye on posts here, so well done Craig for being on the ball....... and I will be cautious[Im already booked anyhows]
Smile

Take care, and I hope the site does well for you bothx

After 2+ years without a peep (last 6 months I haven't even bothered to update info or calendar), I just confirmed a very nice 8 night booking, which started yesterday.

Patience is a virtue! Very Happy

This has jolted me to update too - tbh I had forgotten about them. Had also forgotten what a dream their calendar is to use - if only other sites would take note, especially the half day showing arrivals & departures.

This site seems to be a bit of a sleeper.

I've been with them sometime now with just one property; I don't keep the calendar or prices up-to-date as there's no iCal import link.

Had 1 enquiry last year and nothing came of it; but just had 3 in a short space of time of which 2 turned into firm bookings.

This of course made me check my listing and subsequently up-date it.

I looked at about 20 other listings and only 3 were keeping the calendar current; so the others must be having similar experiences.

Now this is a site that has been going for sometime and has continued to be "free"; although, they do advertise that they charge £20 pa after the first 12-months, I've never been charged. The owners have got the seo moving but it's not there yet. I think it could have the potential to expand and if the owners were to introduce a higher subscription and reduce the free period to 6-months they could start to get the income to start to get noticed. I would be happy to pay £60 to £75 per annum and add a second property for say £50 per annum. Once it became more successful with proven results then the subscription could be increased.

In return I would expect the iCal import to be added fairly quickly as this is essential to ensure that all sites are synchronised quickly. With the changes afoot in this industry I have to use more and more listing sites to ensure that I am "everywhere" and automation is essential to ensure efficiency.

If there were enough takers I am sure they would be able to expand. On here many members state that they would love for another site to come along and help them move away from the biggies, so here's an opportunity to put your money where your mouth is.

I don't have any affiliation with this company, this is entirely my opinion. So would cousins Liz & Craig care to comment? Laughing
