Weird one from Wimdu

Post by GRL »

I received this message from Windu this afternoon:
Hello, I am very interested to rent your property for 10 days, I am comming with with few colleagues to make a study in your country but before doing this through Wimdu, I would like to speak with you by the phone to ask you more details because it is my first time making a booking through Wimdu and I need to be sure this is the right thing to do because these days are a lot of scams. Please write me via my profile name (IS MY E-MAIL ADDRESS) which to talk about. { rachelhooper@@host-inc.us[delete one @]} Thank you! Regards, Rachel
("Rachel's" profile picture shows her to be a rather well endowed young lady)

Thought it was probably a scam in the making but replied that I would be happy to answer any questions via the dashboard so as to keep my reply rate up. I also reported it to Wimdu Customer Support

3 minutes after I sent that I got the exact same message again although "Rachel" had kindly altered her profile picture to a slightly different view of her voluminous bosom. This time I simply replied that I had sent her message to Wimdu Customer Support.

For some reason I have not heard back from "Rachel"

Maybe she is an itinerant lady of the night looking for a temporary pad in your area.
Spare us the picture, Kevin :o

We also received this enquiry back on 11th March and answered directly to 'her' email address because we were not sure if it was real or not (thought it might have been a selfie-obsessed young lady with a sense of humour!)

We've had quite a few 'business groups' stay with us from Germany who have written in the same kind of English. After we sent the reply, we used Google Chrome to search for any similar images and found that the photo belongs to 'Angie Varona'.

Soon after we replied, we started getting a lot of online casino SPAM emails coming through to the email address we used, which could be just a coincidence. We never received any reply from 'Rachel' (ours was called 'Sofie').

So she is - I bet Rachel/Sophie/horrid man sitting sitting his dirty Y-Fronts collecting email addresses just stole her picture. And I never heard back from Wimdu at all which I am not too impressed with

Rosie, Wimdu support in Germany has replied to me before when I reported scammers on their site (last time before this was back in February). Their direct email address is contact@wimdu.com

My name is Ana Cervantes and I'm contacting you from the Wimdu Support Team.
Thank you for bringing the issue with the suspicious message from a "Michelle" to our attention.
We have reviewed the email you forwarded to us and the Wimdu user, and can confirm that this is a Spam message. We already deleted this user from our Wimdu platform.
For your own security reasons, please do not contact the person via email address given in the message.
Please accept our apologies for this incident. Despite our best efforts to maintain security, such things can happen. By forwarding a suspicious looking message to us you are helping to keep yourself and others safe, so we thank you for your vigilance!
For any further questions or inquiries, please don't hesitate to search our FAQs or to contact us using the “Help” section on www.wimdu.com.
So that we can improve the service provided to you, we would love to get your feedback. In 48 hours we will send you a satisfaction survey where I invite you to rate the support that has been provided to you.
Best regards,
Ana Cervantes from the Wimdu Support Team
