Thought I’d bounce this to LMH’ers before going down the official search route, but wasn’t really sure where to post it. Sorry if it’s in the wrong place.

I’m already thinking about our skiing holiday for next season(Jan/Feb ’17).

Wanted: 7 nights, quality apartment for 2 in Chamonix, Val d’Isere or other top resorts in Europe. Ski to the door, close to lift network, high enough for guaranteed snow, with secure boot room/storage, access to spa facilities included, separate bedroom and living space, kitchen facilities, parking, located in town or reasonably near to nightlife.

We have rented apartments at Arc 1950 for the past few years, and like the feel of Le Village, but want to try somewhere different. Am flexible on dates but, having ‘experienced’ the Feb half-term week too many times, -aaaargh!! – would now like to avoid it.

Pls let me know if your accommodation might work for us, and I’ll have a look at your website.

Hello I can't help you directly, as we're too large and definitely not ski in ski out, but I thought you might appreciate a bit of advice on Chamonix. Basically, there are no ski in ski out places in Chamonix, and only limited ones (and not terribly snow sure) in Les Houches or the higher Argentiere. However, while you miss out on the convenience of this, and the general lack of connectivity between the Cham valley ski areas can be frustrating for some, the skiing is first class, and views are stunning. The town is fun, too, and very authentic in comparison to purpose built resorts.

While a lower resort, Saint Gervais, where we are has ski in ski out places up high at the Bettex or Saint Nicholas. Unfortunately by being up there it does mean you miss out of the village, which is lovely and very savoyard. The ski area, which includes the high class Megeve and the more technically challenging Les Contamines, is the 4th largest in France, and wonderfully quiet in comparison to many other resorts!

Hope this helps and good luck with your search.

I really appreciate your advice. We have spent years in the Paradiski area, and enjoy the quality of the accommodation and the village feel at Arc 1950(even though it is purpose-built). We are so used to putting our skis on at the door, and heading off, the idea of commuting to and from a lift is less than enticing.

Maybe it's a trade-off we need to make to experience something different.

The search begins. Very Happy

I've got a 1 bedroom, ground floor apartment in Serre Chevalier which might be suitable? Pool, sauna and hammam, 200m to llfts. Locked bootroom and ski locker.

I can't help you either - too big and only ski in/out for ski de fond fans! but as well as those mentioned, Avoriaz could be worth a look?

Chamonix, as already mentioned, is a completely different experience to the big purpose built ski villages. I have a blog post here with in-depth info about the different areas which might be useful. Linked to each village is more info about the ski areas with lots of pics.

@Martha - thank you. I think we skied Morzine/Avoriaz a few years ago, but don't recall much about the layout/accommodation.

I'll have a look at your blog. Thanks again.
