Notes on how to use the forum, whether you just want to read it or contribute too. If you have never used an online forum, this is the best place to start.

First things first - what is a forum?

What is a forum?

A forum is a way for people with a common interest to get together and discuss things without the inconvenience of actually all meeting up in one place, such as a replica of a Roman forum.

A forum is made up of a series of messages, or 'posts'. There is an initial post, in which a question or opinion is stated, and people can then add their replies in an online discussion. The discussion that follows on from that first post is called a 'thread'.

A forum is broken down into Categories - for instance in the Lay My Hat forum you've got Categories of 'Marketing your home', 'Managing your home', etc.

If you want to post a message or find some information, you should look to find the most appropriate Category, then click on the most appropriate sub-category within that, and view the list of topics.

If your topic has not been covered you can start a new topic by clicking on the 'new topic' button. If your topic is already covered, click on it to see the thread of messages. You can add to these by clicking on the 'post reply' button.

To add anything to this forum you have to be a registered user, so that we can stop abuse of the forum by non-rental owners. Registration is very easy and instant. However you don't need to register if you just want to read other people's posts on the forum.
