I just keep the cookies (9 in total at the moment) that store my passwords to various sites (this one included) to save remembering and typing in user names and passwords. I don't keep any bank website cookies. Apart from that it's safe to delete all cookies and frees up a little bit of space. I run C Cleaner once a day and it gets rid of all the temporary internet files as well.

I'm curious about two new features of AVG using their version 8.0.

1) I've been using it less than a week, and have had 3 virus warnings, compared with zero over the last 12 months. Is it the sites I'm visiting or is AVG 8.0 more sensitive?

2) We have a never-ending battle to keep on Page 1 Google for the keywords swiss chalet rental - this morning we were no. 3 page 1 and this evening bottom of page 2 (on one of our listing sites), but, and this is more interesting, one of ours competitors is being single out by a new feature of AVG (unless I've missed it before) - the green tick or red cross against the entries on the Google results.

The red cross means (according to AVG):

T-P put me onto ccleaner a few weeks ago and it does an excellent job. You can set it for what you want to delete, temp internet files, cookies, internet cache, browsing history etc. It also does a registry cleanup which is good too. I only run it once a week.

Dunno, good question, LV.

What I do know is that AVG 8.0 is earning its keep - and capturing and slaughtering virii left, right and centre, which begs the question what was AVG 7.0 doing when it was in charge?

It's finding 'infections' on our WordPress backups and will ask WP Forum what this means. My WP host set-up is virus-ridden? Not a clue.

And, just for anyone still struggling with download after download of AVG 8.0 Free with corrupt files, I switched from Firefox to IE and worked OK first time. Next step is the paid version for our master PC.

As advised, I zapped my 1600 cookies on Thursday. 24 hours later, 17 new cookies had jumped on board. Intriguingly, several of these appear to have come from websites that I hadn't visited. Did a bit of research to find that:

Can you, for example, customize the scannable directories ?

I have some exceedingly large directories which take hours to scan, yet never change or are touched from week to week.

Perhaps other customizable features ?
