Large house sleeps 10 or 4 Appartments?

We have a house in italy that we have justed started renting out - so far so good.

We also have a large ruin on the same site that could be restored to provide a large farmhouse sleeps 10 or 4 appartments. What do you think is best? a large farmhouse would be good and also give us the option to sell on at a later date. The appartments may appeal to a greater number of renters - smaller groups etc., but need more changeovers, possibly someone living on site, 4 kitchens etc., possibly less re-sale value?

Hopefully someone has come across this question and can offer some advice.
