Owners Direct Review guidelines:

"Users cannot post a review or response for the purpose of blackmailing or extorting owners or travellers for money or other consideration. The reviews are for the benefit of future travellers, not to allow one party to threaten the other."

Guest is explicitly threatening to write a bad review if you deduct from their breakages deposit. I'm pretty sure that if you copied that email to OD emphasising the legal implications they would remove their review.

Having said that, under the circumstances (festival noise), we would not have charged for the damage even though the noise was not your fault. We hardly ever deduct unless damage is really dreadful and no doubt as to who is responsible.
