VRBO Google map text

Post by Nemo »

Just received this by text. I copied and pasted the URL into a browser and it brought up what looked like a Google map log in. I'm assuming it's a scam. Anyone else had it?
Dear host, this is an important update from VRBO and Google Maps, please take a minute: updatevrbo. com/maps

You're absolutely right to be suspicious.

I'm not listed (directly) with VRBO, only with HA, but for a laugh, I entered your link into my browser without the space.

Up came a Google maps page with a login screen superimposed.
The login screen had a X in the top right, so got rid of that, and then noted that the "Google maps" webpage is just an image of a Google page. The search box in top left takes no input. Its just a big dummy picture !

Hi Nemo

I had the same text yesterday - I also thought it was a scam so just ignored it...

Had 3 of these suspicious texts since the start of the year, though substitute VRBO with Owners Direct.
