Ros, has your Facebook been compromised?

Post scam emails to warn other rental owners, or if you are not sure if an enquiry is genuine, put it up here and see what others think.

Ros, has your Facebook been compromised?

Post by kendalcottages »

Not a scam email enquiry as such, but something that looks suspicious to me:

Haven't posted on here for a while but received a FB friend request from Ros which I accepted - shortly after, I received a message via FB which went something like this before going noticably quiet (despite having been read) - I'm assuming it's a scam?

The hackers have absolutely no idea of the sheer volume of bad karma that is heading their way.......

How does one hack an FB account? Not that I'm planning a campaign myself :P Just curious. This ploy involved sending friend requests to, presumably, friends of existing friends so it was a simple password hack?

I Spose the same way they hack into anything...they opened another account with my profile on,and then asked all my friends to friend'me' again ,then sent a message from 'me' about this brilliant money making scheme 😜 Wot probably alerted my pals whas that their English and punctuation was correct ,😳Unlike mine 😄

I thought a hack was not a parallel account, but a direct hijack of your own account :?

Well he hacked my account to contact my friends and get my profile
He could have messaged them from my account but I reckon he knew I'd spot that.
Luckily my friends are a canny lot and when were asked to friend 'me' for a second time that summat was up .and contacted me .
