Long-term gite let sought Languedoc / Midi Pyrenees

Post by Mountaindreams »

We are looking for a let, minimum of 3 bedrooms, dog-friendly for us to stay long-term while we acclimatise ourselves to France and wait for the housing market to improve again in the UK and stirling to improve against the euro.
We have found a few sites (French Property, French Locations, Rent A Place in France), but not much out there. Can anyone direct me to sites that do these - either English or French?

Try Le Bon Coin... it's the French equivalent of Gumtree, so doesn't have the hiked up prices of British agencies. You want the 'locations' page.

Good luck... hope you find somewhere!

French Locations and RentaplaceinFrance are good reliable sites which specialise in advertising longer lets for people like yourselves and in your situation; I have used them and know several people/friends who have advertised or found lets through them. I guess you can't find anything on there where you would like, or is it on price, or are you wanting more than 6 months? Many owners will make a monthly price to sell off-season periods so it is worth asking if you are looking for a 2 or 3 month let.

It would be helpful if you could tell us a bit more specifically which area you're looking for, Mountaindreams, as someone may be able to point you towards a local site - Languedoc/M-P covers a huge area!

Long-term gite let sought Languedoc / Midi Pyrenees

Thanks for all your replies. I had looked at the websites mentioned and we're now trawling our way through Owners Direct and Homeaway, as they have 'consider long-term lets' under facilities.

To be more specific, it's actually Ariege in the Midi Pyrenees that we're interested in or the area around Quillan in Aude.

Thanks

The Ariège is my patch, Mountaindreams. I'm PMing you with two possible long term rentals over the winter months.
