Return of deposit

I just got an email from somebody giving me their bank details and asking for return of deposit. I couldn;t find the name or the property for the dates they said. They included their original enquiry.
So I concluded it was a scam. If somebody has my email address, they could easily ask for money.
Of course most owners will check carefully before returning deposits.
In the end it turned out they booked a different property, and the name on the booking was of their partner, so it was all OK.
But just a warning to others to always check, it would be quite an easy scam to do, send out lots of enquiries, don't book, but ask for return of deposit.
