Big House required for October half term - mid England HELP!

Post by DivineMrsM »

Anyone know of a large house that can sleep 12 adults, 8 children and a baby? We don't mind putting the kids on mattresses on bedroom floors if need be.

I'm looking for somewhere in the middle of England (Gloucs up to Peak District) for one of the half term weekends (21st or 28th Oct) but might take the week if necessary.

I can find lots of places that have multiple cottages on site, but not with a large enough communal area for eating etc.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I don't know of one, but I would look at

http://www.thebigdomain.com

a site dedicated to big houses for rent.

Thanks Paolo. I know of that one and just about every other big house specialist..! I was just wondering if anyone knew of a well kept secret that I hadn't yet found.

I've sorted it out now though. We've gone with the same place as last year (nr Ledbury and completely gorgeous if anyone needs the same) but rented an additional cottage a few miles away for the couples that are coming without kids.

Another good big house specialist is www.groupaccommodation.com if anyone is interested.

Cheers,
Lynne

Hello, DivineMrsM. Sorry for the late reply to your request for a large house in "middle England".

If you can shift your geographical border a bit further north to the Lake District, there is a beautiful large holiday opposite us which sleeps 18 and has extra beds. It's called Broad How and always reminds me of a rural vicarage with a large garden. They are refurbishing the kitchen and dining area at the moment to provide a superb area for communal dining.

We know the family well, but the house is let through the following agency:

www.cottages4you.co.uk

I don't know the exact reference number but if you enter "Lake District" as the region and put "16" as your party number, it should come up.!

Let me know if you need any more info.

It would be lovely to meet you if you make it up to this neck of the woods.

Cheers
