You might like to check out the rental calendar at http://www.rentcalendar.com. It's a free calendar, and doesn't have any ads on it. It's also easy to use.
I'm using it on my website http://www.sandcastleholidays.co.uk and it seems to be working well.
Good luck with the website. _________________ Holiday home owner in Scotland |

I have a couple of very, very small problems with availabilities on Tansy's new site.
The availability calendar is a pop-up but I have pop-ups disallowed on my PC. This means I have to temporarily allow pop-ups so that I can read the availability calendar. Is there any way of designing this out or am I simply stuck with it while I have pop-ups disallowed?
Also, the pop-up page is of fixed size when it is displayed which means I can't quite read the whole of the first month without scrolling down. Could the display screen for the calendar be extended a little?
Overall I think it shaping up very well. Tansy, you must be looking forward with keen anticipation to publishing day.

You could use an IFRAME to embed the calendar in one of tansy's pages instead of having it pop out. Many sites do this with their rentors.org calendar. The problem is it looks ugly with the rentors org calendar.
I have a solution that uses your data from the rentors org site and simply re-themes the display. Here is an example of what it would look like. (I made a theme called "tansy"). This link could be used as pop-up or embedded.
http://www.jhplace.net/jrac/jrac_buildother.php?theme=tansy&data=ro&pid=53250
You can add all the standard jAC options to the theme. For example, if it is embedded you wouldn't want the close button. This example takes rentors.org data and displays as : 2 column display, shows week numbers, is in Italian, and starts 1 month after the current month, and doesn't display the close form or header so that I can nicely embed it:
http://www.jhplace.net/jrac/jrac_buildother.php?theme=tansy&data=ro&pid=53250&cfg=2,,C,,,L,2005,5,12,A,-1,,IT,W,&closebutton=no
Note nothing is stored in jAC about the property or calendar. There is just a theme called tansy. Try the URL above substituting your own rentors.org property id.
NOTE: if you have questions or support about jAC, there is a forum there for that purpose. Laymyhat is not a support forum for jAC.

Hi. I have just joined the forum and noticed this posting relating to calendars.
I look after a site for friends who live in Brittany and have a holiday gite they rent there,http://wrycottage.hn.org. on this site i have incorporated a calendar for them. they have yet to use it formally, but it is free and quite easy to use. it can be fully customised for colours etc to match your own site and has only a basic link to their own site calsnet.net, (which is fair as the calander is free), give it a try. it may be what you want.
would also be pleased for feedback on the site.(especially as i plan to do some update to it in the not too distant future). |

Hi John,
I've seen your calendar mentioned in another post as well as on a number of other sites .... excellent work.
Would it be ok to use on tansy's site, if so, how would we go about setting up the theme?
Not sure if i'd use a separate page with iframe for each property or both properties on the one page. What do you think? _________________ Tony

Thankx. Sure you can use the calendar. In my post above you saw that I set up a theme already. You can log in to jac to change that theme. (sent you uname and password by seperate email). After log in goto MAINMENU/THEME/MYTHEME and adjust colors.
If you have any questions about that please email me off the board!!
Regarding 2 calendars pages or one page with 2 calendars. That really depends on the whole site layout. I haven't seen the site and the url and http://www.normandybeachrental.com/ doesn't show how the site for 2 properties would be layed out.
Send me a URL of the idea of the site with 2 properties and I'll make an opinion!!
NOTE: I am at my condo this holiday weekend, so don't expect more till Monday nIght!!

Hi Alan
to get the calendar to work in a web page try this in a web page ( your web site)
| Code: |
<iframe src="http://www.vacationfrance.com/future/property_calendar_en.php?id=2100" width="650" height="850" name="calendar" align="left" scrolling="yes"></iframe>
|
incert the code and play with the width="650" height="850"

Albret,
Thanks for the coding but I think it is really for Tansy and Tony, it's Tansy's website where it should be included.

Albert,
Tansy's availability calenders are now working as part of the site and not as pop-ups so my comments are no longer valid.

I've just put Google Calendars onto my site (on the 'Rates' tab at the bottom)
Its free, easy to set up and can be embedded into the page without too much bother by simply copying and pasting
It can be made a sort of 'read only' for the visitor but of course you have full control over it
Already I've had a call telling me about availability I have instead of the usual 'do you have availability?'
