Apologies for grabbing this thread, but I have a simple Gmail problem (mentioned in Double-booking above) that is causing us a headache.
In a nutshell - I've had 3 instances recently where I have an exchange (Gmail conversation?) with a punter - say: intial enquiry, initial details and chat-up, questions back from punter, quote firm dates and price, punter agrees, we send booking form/contract via attachment. Fairly routine?
Then 7-10 days later punter reports that they've returned booking form (email attachment), what's up and have we received it?
Sure enough, there it is, buried in our In-box, but the answer looks read by us. Sometimes over on page 2 instead of on top of our page. Surely unread emails show up as bold?
So we're getting replies which are not showing up as 'bold' replies. Unless anyone else is reading our Inbox (not) then I can't see why this is happening.
That's explained badly, but in the last 2 weeks has caused 1 double-booking (resolved) and two unanswered bookings (makes us look inefficient).
Anyone else had this? I'm onto Google support.

MG, not as far as I know, but I am going to check it out just in case. Is your initial response sent from MG@gmail.com or do you use mg@mychalet.com? And what address are your enquirers replying to? I was wondering if it was something to do with the capture of your website mailbox by gmail. If you get a lot of emails, the new mail from mychalet.com may be further down the page than you expect, as it files them in strict date and time order in gmail.Maybe you can solve the problem by forwarding the mail from your website email rather than using gmail to capture it.

But even though they're filed in date order, new additions to your conversations should always be at the top, and in bold too. Definitely somethig wrong there MG, are you really sure no-one else is getting into your account? That's the only reason I can think of that they would look as though they'd already been read. Might be worth changing your password? _________________ Kathy

I was wondering if he had stayed logged in to his Gmail account on another computer and someone had been using it. I used to accidentally access another persons gmail account at work if they had been using the computer before they left the night before.

No, but thanks for all the advice.
Mrs MG uses Gmail as well, and we use each other's laptops, but although occasionally log into each other's accounts, we don't open emails.
I really don't know what the answer is, and I make a habit now of dragging through a page of emails each evening to check there isn't an open one.
I'll get around to asking Gmail about it as soon as I can and report back.

I've started to label and archive mine every day, just so there isn't too much clutter in my Inbox. I noticed a Freeserve one almost at the bottom of the page this evening, timed at 4pm, but only received in inbox since 8pm this evening. It was bold though, and doesn't really explain your problem, as it was a continuing conversation direct from your Gmail, so should arrive unread at the top.

Wierd, I just received an email in my Gmail Inbox, picked up from my Freeserve account, dated 13/12/07 almost a month old. Gmail has picked many other mails up from there over the last month.

Helen, when you say that Gmail picked up the Freeserve email, do you really mean that? Haven't you set up Freeserve to forward your emails inbound to Freeserve? Therefore, if a problem with missing emails, or delayed emails, it's Freeserve, not Gmail?
Or have I got it all wrong?

No, Gmail picks up my Freeserve mail, as you can't forward the account to Gmail from Freeserve end.
