Your water must be nutrient rich in algae terms. Worth checking phosphate levels and whether the filtration is good enough, maybe add some seaKlear or jolly gel.

So the pool is almost full, has taken almost 24 hrs to fill, so we're starting off with brand new water ...

Yes as Mols says, why is your pump running 24/7, that's certainly not needed. Our pool gets topped up roughly once a month - Brittany - bit more rain than most. Very Happy
