Renting to sublet for holiday lets

Post by bentisdall »

Has anyone done this in London or the UK? I know it's very common with ski chalets in the Alps which people plan to run as catered chalets.
It occurs to me that with the private rental market over-supplied & prices coming down in London, you could rent a very nice two bedroom flat (or two) in a central location & sub-let to tourists.
Is this idea a goer?

There will be a clause in the AST you sign no sub-letting.
It is better to remain quiet and have one think you are stupid, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt....

The biggest mistake we make in life is thinking we have time.

This set me thinking...

It looks like an attractive proposition and makes a lot of sense.

If you were able to approach a landlord with a proposition to manage an apartment on his/her behalf for holiday rentals that would be quite different to renting and sub-letting. I guess the problem here is access to the landlord as there would be a letting agency standing in the way.
Cheers, Ben
