Plans are vague so far, but if anyone knows of a holiday rental in Virginia? Preferably on the beach, but - and this is much more important - reasonably close to an airport?

First week in August 2010 (or thereabouts), 5 bedrooms minimum seems about right...

A backyard runway would be a bonus. A grass strip will do.... just askin'

LMH member, "overboard"(although haven't seen her around for quite a while) has a house in VA - http://www.tullyhouse.com/index.html Not by the beach, but it does have a pool :-)

You could also try the Yahoo! Vacation Rentals group, which seems to be mostly US owners. I'm sure there are plenty in VA!

Good luck on finding a runway. :) You may have more luck than you expect if you are willing to stay in a rural area. My aunt and uncle live on a farm in Maryland (about 30 minutes from BWI and an hour from IAD), and my uncle uses his field as a runway all the time. :)

Why not a lake, Rab, and get your FAA sea plane licence?

When you get back, you can nip over to Montreux on this gorgeous beast.

Mmm, I'm starting to waver, now, MG....

And thanks very much for the suggestions, Musetta and Brooke, I'll put them to the committee.
