cross-country (ski de fond/langlauf) anybody?

We live in the Swiss Jura, the mecca for x-country skiing and took up the sport this year. Wonderful - peace and quiet, no pollution or crowds. love it. :D

My daughter's class are going doing ski du fond next week. I'd love to try it - I can't downhill ski or ice skate to save my life but cross country looks manageable for a bovine with no sense of balance. Although the way the skiers in the JO collapsed at the finish line after 15kms, it also looks like very hard work!

Hi Odile and welcome to the forum!

Whereabouts do you live in the Jura? My mother was born there, in the Vallee de Joux. My grandfather was a watchmaker for Jaeger-le-Coultre. My great aunt ran the Auberge du Mollendruz for many years.

Ah! Memories, memories! Thanks for jogging them for me...
