Detecting scam emails - help from LMH members?

Post by limousin-cottage »

Would it be feasible to have somewhere on LMH where we can forward what we suspect are scam emails to get second opinions before writing them off?

Not sure what you mean - we've had a section for posting scam emails for years on LMH:? It is under the one you have posted this thread on.

Even if you get an email which is obviously a scam, take the time to post it in the scam email section, with the name of the scammer in the Subject line. In this way when another owner Googles the name, they will come across your post and be warned off.

But - what if you are not absolutely sure it's a scam?

''But - what if you are not absolutely sure it's a scam?''

Well Limousin ,I would have a look at the scam emails people have posted here,to see the usual ones we get.
Then youll get a feel for it.

viewforum.php?f=31

If youre just a little concerned, you could head it 'is this a scam' it seems a little iffy etc and leave out the email address and phone number, and if others have received it as well, they will pipe up hopefully.
Or you could always pm one of us Forum wrinklies and we willl let you know what we think, feel free to contact me if you think it would help.

Take Care Rosx

Yes, paste the email and disable any email addresses or websites. This is done by adding a space in the address, either before the @ sign or the 'www'.
