Subtle scam?

Post by paolo »

I have received this email for different properties, neither of which is made up of separate apartments. For those reasons I think it is scam. But there are no real clues otherwise. Anyone else get this?:
Is your home available for any period in the summer....Do you offer any
discounts for extended stays of one or more months? You residence is lovely and
in the perfect place! We were wondering if we might two apartments having the
two older childre, both girls, stay in one and the youngest stay with me in the
other.....thye older girls are both 17 years old and the little one is 12 years
old also a girl...what do you think?
Thanks so much for your time,
Catherine

I'm alway supicious of a casual approach to length of stay and date of holidays, as well as cost, genuines enquiries always seemt o mention cost in the first enquiry, regardless of the price being clearly shown on the page they will have mailed from

Paolo,

I suspect these enquiries come from people who are trawling for availabilities and then try to sell them on at a higher price.

It's not easy to be scammed if all you do is take cash or a personal cheque in payment for the exact amount of the rent, in advance. If you take Western Union for more and send the balance to “A N Other or give out full bank details you are asking for trouble, aren’t you?
