Please help and comment

Post by Jaya Patel »

Hi please can you help? Here is my first attempt at my website. My computer skills are very minimal so give me ideas and comments how I can improve (keep it in plain English and simple no complicated technical stuff!)

Thanks in advance

Hi Jaya

I've had a look at your site, and I think you have mad a good first pass. I do have some comments, but they are all there to be constructive:

1) The butterflies are doing nothing for you.

2) I like the background you have on most of the site, but not the one on the home page. I would probably be better if it were all consistent.

3) The main photo shows a nice photo of the pool, but it is very poor quality. You need to either retake the photo, or replace it with another. This photo is the most important one on your site, it pays to get it right.

4) you've inadvertantly left in a "Type your title here" at the bottom of the first page.

5) Some of the photos on you apartment page load slowly (and I'm on broadband) others are ok so it would be a good idea to look at the sizes.

6) I don't think the google ads at the top of your site do you any favours.

I hope these are useful comments. As I said I think you have made a good first pass. I particularly liked the map you have showing where Bodrum is, and I like the little photo on the left which is always visible.

Hi

I agree with many of the views above. It just needs a little tweaking to optimise it. The problem could be that your freeweb professionals travel template does not offer all the flexibility you need. My immediate feelings were :

1)The google adsense ads can only compete with you ? Are they there as part of the free software ?
2)The bubble cursor pattern is annoying, as is the butterfly, and both delay loading on dial up
3)The music is annoying, and makes it slow to load with dial up
4)You need to get your own domain name : looks more professional and helps with search engine placement
5)The pool pic ( http://www.freewebs.com/turkey-rental/CAWT27W9.jpg )is distorted and hazy because it has been stretched from 300 pixels to 640 pixels wide
6)The pool pic ( http://www.freewebs.com/turkey-rental/apartment.bmp ) looks much better here but at close to 1mb it is too big for dial up. BMP is generally not a good idea for web images.
7)You need to add the meta tags. I could not find them in the html or CSS style sheets ( http://images.freewebs.com/Members/Gene ... /style.css ).
8)The main challenge is to make the site visible. Google doesn't really know you ( http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=& ... tnG=Search ) ?

Although this looks like a formidable list, they are minor things to "tidy up" the site and its visibility.

As an aside, your prices look to be significantly cheaper than your competition.

Hope this was useful

Cannot understand why you would publish Adsense on your site as you're advertising your competitors!

apparently the adsense is mandatory unless I start paying for the premium services. Following on from advice on forum I am hoping to take the plunge with another company and set up my own website any advice on the best companies?

Hi

I would agree with the file size of your photographs, look to get them down to around 75 to 100k.

For buying a website name I would use www.godaddy.com and you can even host the site with them for a very reasonable amount, around $4 a month.

If you are looking for even more of a bargain than www.dayanahost.com is even better at around $15 a year.

But you will have to configure your domain name to point at your dayanahost service.

It is not too difficult.

But once bought you won't have any other adverts on your site and you will have plenty of disk space to produce more website pages if required.

Hope this helps

Craig

Your homepage is 1,072,064 bytes large, which is absolutely HUGE. probably you need to reduce the size of your photos
