Spam via Microsoft?

In the days when I used to contact Microsoft for tech. advice, and being highly suspicious anyway, I used a specific, dedicated email address for all communications with them.

Brushing out my spam filter this week, a large proportion of the junk comes to this Microsoft address I used.

Is there any way that email addresses could have been pinched from Microsoft? There was nothing IT biased to the spam, just the usual crud.
