A sad tale!

Post by Ciapolin »

Now I know I'm in business - my 1st scam!

Dearest

Good a thing to write you. I have a proposal for
you-this however is not mandatory nor will I in
any manner compel you to honour against your will.

Your profile pushed me to send you this mail,I am silvia james 21years old and the only daughter of my late parents Mr.and Mrs james. My father was a highly reputable busnness magnet-(a cocoa merchant)who operated in the capital of Ivory coast during his days.

It is sad to say that he passed away mysteriously in France during one of his business trips abroad year 12th.Febuary 2004.Though his sudden death was linked or rather suspected to have been masterminded by an uncle of his who travelled with him at that time. But God knows the truth!

My mother died when I was just 4 years old,and since then my father took me so special. Before his death on Febuary 12 2004 he called the secretary who accompanied him to the hospital and told him that he has the sum of Ten million, seven hundred thousand United State Dollars.(USD$10.700,000) left in one of the leading security company here in Abidjan Ivory coast West Africa.

He further told me that he deposited the money in my name,I am just 21 years old and a university undergraduate and really don\\\'t know what to do.This is because I have suffered a lot of set backs as a result of incessant political crisis here in Ivory coast. The death of my father actually brought sorrow to my life.

Dear,I am in a sincere desire of your humble assistance in this regards.Your suggestions and ideas will be highly regarded.

Now permit me to ask these few questions:-
1. Can you honestly help me as your Sister?
2. Can I completely trust you?
3. What percentage of the total amount in question will
be good for you after the money is in your account?

Please,Consider this and get back to me as soon as possible.

I received this is one or one very similar.
Im on quite a few websites & most of them have managed to crack down on this
My biggest worry is that they will learn to speak & write better English [like wot I do]
Then they wont be SO obvious

This one is ,but I did have a couple that I wasnt sure about when I was first renting and keen to get ANY booking.

You usually realise when they dont ask any questions
How far to the beach shops etc.
Also if you inundate them with questions they seem to disappear.

Not all foreign sounding emails are dodgy

I got an enq for a month or 2 in Dec Jan a week before he wanted to stay
Didnt speak or type very good english. Phoned me from a mobile
He was travelling round Europe so no forwarding address etc.
Working for a charity?????[arent they always]
Had to know within a couple of days or he would go elsewhere.
Very Dodgy!!!

But it would be handy, slow time of year etc.

Luckily we have 2 houses together and we were going to be next door when he arrived[which I made sure he knew]

Slapped on a BIG deposit which I said I wanted in pound notes
The monthly rent in cash in FULL in Euros.

Didnt think he would turn up, but he did out of one pocket came the rent in euros the other the deposit in pounds.
I quickly went to the bank and deposited the eurs[so I knew they werent fake]

Not a bit of trouble from him

We were at home in England when he left
So my cleaner inspected house etc when he was leaving and gave him the deposit [same pound notes] back that he handed over.

So you never know

Dont think I would have rented to him if we hadnt been in Spain at the time though , so I could suss him out.

Usually if it looks dodgy it is
[just because your short of bookings doesnt make it less dodgy!!!!]

Regards Ros
