Carbon Monoxide Alarm Legal Requirement?

Just had a landlords gas safety check on an AST and have been told legal requirement to have carbon mon alarm in AST's and holiday rentals law came in last year is this right?
It is better to remain quiet and have one think you are stupid, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt....

Hi. Yes it is. We have one in the kitchen. We were told by the gas board when we got our landlords certificate.

Thanks but sis in law who is in rentals says no and can't find anything on web.

Just looks on HSE website and say it'strongly recommended but not compulsory. Still feel better for having it though.
