HI,
We have a phone/internet jack point close to our fixed wired telephone which is kept locked so that guests can only use it for incomimg and emergency calls (unless they have made prior arrangement to have the phone unlocked and paid a much larger than usual 'security' deposit to cover calls). The phone is an old dial type and easy to lock!
The jack point is there so that we can access the internet when we are there ourselves and for the last 3 years nobody else has plugged in-we have been lucky I know.
Last month we however had a bill with €50 of internet usage whilst a guest was there so we must sort something out to avoid this and possibly a much larger bill in the future
Does anyone know of any way of locking such a jack point?
If not does anyone have any other suggestions????
Anyone know how to lock a Phone/Internet Socket?
Fiona,
We simply installed a meter, which is wired before the jack, so cannot be bypassed. It was supplied by PT and they just add a couple of Euro's onto the monthly standing charge. Then our managers read the meter at end of stay and charge €0.15 per unit, which is a small mark-up to cover the cost of meter.
Seems to work OK, no complaints so far.
