That's good to hear, pambon. Thought it was just me - my ailing pc is really limping along now and if it had legs it would definitely be on the last of them!

So now I've got to locate a new laptop, pdq .... any thoughts, anyone?

My guru has suggested an Asus. My offspring is pushing me for a Mac, which is out as I don't think I or my brain can handle one! Especially with no-one to help me understand it's workings!

+1. If I could afford one, I'd get a macbook air, otherwise Asus would be my first choice. I regret buying my HP, constant overheating. Asus would be my first Windows choice, definitely.

I've got a constantly overheating HP too. My Asus tablet is great though.

So definitely not an HP then ....

I've got my eye on a Lenovo Z580 - anyone got one? Though I'll have a good look at Asus as well.

Strange, my offspring has an HP which has always been better than my present ACER in it's good old days! Fast and no over-heating.

I've got an HP EliteBook Mobile Workstation - constantly overheating too and on its last legs I fear.

I had a Compaq before which also overheated all the time and lasted all of 2 years. Compaq are HP. Why I thought the HP brand would be any better I don't know when they are all effectively the same thing. My Sony Vaio was lovely and quiet in comparison.
Looking seriously at refurbed macbooks now....

My macbook cost me 580€ when I got it, nearly new, 4 years ago. I thought I'd killed and looked for a replacement, and they were still the same price. And I still love it more than any other piece of kit I've got.

That's really cheap Wally, where did you get yours? There are quite a few on Leboncoin.
Is yours a macbook air or pro?
