New French Second Home Tax 15%

Post by Richy »

My apologies if there is already a thread on here?
What is the general consensus of opinion on this are you hiking prices to cover the increase? Are there any ways to avoid the tax legally? The jury still seems to be out if we can offset against Uk tax as it would not then be within the rules of the double taxation treaty.
Some background info.

New French Second Home Tax 15%

Why are you interested? From my reading of the link the new tax or "contribution" relates to the income from unfurnished lettings - or am I missing something?

I'm sure there has been an amendment so that is covers furnished holiday homes too, but will have to dig out the link.

The BBC article says that it was last updated in July 17, 2012. Does that mean that these taxes remain the same? Pretty darn steep.
