My family and I are loving the series Doc Martin set in Cornwall and wanted to know what town it has been filmed in?

Thanks so much! Beautiful scenery and we are thinking of taking a trip there. I had read in a novel about a great walking path on the coast in Cornwall - does anyone know about that?

I agree Mozzie, I love it too. Managed to see the first 4 series on Sky Italia, after which I had to follow Series 5 on YouTube
So looking forward to series 6 (undoubtably again on YouTube!)

I get a great deal on Netflix and they had all 5 series and am eagerly anticipating series 6. It is an interesting insight into National Health care.

Port Isaac. We stayed there a few years ago and saw a bit of Doc Martin filming there and also the house that is used as the surgery. The school in the TV show was actually a former school but it now a small hotel with each room being named after a school subject/lesson. Lovely place :)

I made the cardinal error of wearing leather soled shoes walking down a steep narrow cobbled street in a Cornish village.

Meanwhile, people in sensible trainers etc: were skipping up and down the hill. All dignity lost, I took them off and inched down to where it was safe to put them on again.

Pretty to look at but I do wonder if some of those places are that easy to live in.

Interesting - Is this where the word 'cobblers' or shoe mender originated ?

Please be kind with your answers

Apologies for tone of reply.

At the time, it was really quite frightening scrabbling around.

They are great places to visit but I have found living in a black and white house with Georgian front where tourists come to see such things, you can get a bit fed up with the downside of picture postcard life.

Perhaps it was more to do with my bruised ego looking such a fool.

I'm not so sure that many people actually "live" in places like Port Isaac, Padstow, Polzeath and the like.

BTW Mozzie, if you are looking for places to stay in the area, the tiny abandoned hamlet of Port Quinn, which is between Port Isaac and Polzeath has lovely little cottages I think owned by the National Trust, that have been converted from the old fishermans cottages. Right on the coast path and wonderfully peaceful.
