Has anybody tried liquid pool covers?

Post by Roger de Flor »

Has anybody tried liquid pool covers like solar pill or the one with a fishy shape? It seems to let out an alcoholic substain that avoids water evaporation and heat loss. Any experience?

Thank you!!

pool fish

Post by memes »

Yes we use them and think they deffo help the temp stay up - just a few degrees but enough to make a difference to enjoying the pool in May and Sept. If you use the fish just do tell your guests its not a toy, bit sickmaking when kids play with it and one that should last a fortnight lasts a day..

i´ve tried one in a pool and noticed no temperature difference to the pool next door (same size, shape, depth).
the theory is great but they don´t work.
know lots of people who had the same experience.

Does it really stop evaporation by the claimed 85% though? That could really save some money as we lose loads in the summer.

I have found UK suppliers online but nothing in Spain. Where did you find yours Costablanca Blue?

they don´t stop evaportation either. i bought a box of fish about 10 years ago and still have most of them in my shed collecting dust.

got them from javea, gunitec but they and most other pool shops stopped selling them around here ages ago.

they sound like a great idea but please don´t waste your money.

the best way to increase the pool temp and stop evaportation is with a pool cover. the cheapest i´ve found are by a company in murcia. google "daisy pool covers spain"

they target trade customers but will sell directly to the public. installation is easy enough.

i´ve seen them used on a few rental pools and they seem to be quite robust too.

still cost a few hundred euros so would take a long time to recoup the water saving.

We have a cover and a solar pipe at our rental house and that works really well, but at home I don't want a cover as it is right in front of our kitchen window and I like looking at the water even in winter. Liquid seemed like the ideal solution (no pun intended!) but obviously not

That is the one I do cover!! But I don't live there so I don't have to look at it in winter!

The one I don't is the one half way down this page: (I can't remember how to copy images into posts, sorry!)
