Holiday insurance companies for the older guest

From the moment they step through the door your bookings become guests, and their experiences determine whether they ever come back.

Holiday insurance companies for the older guest

Post by Normandie »

Has anyone recommendations for a UK insurance company for the 'older' traveller - someone 70+?

I know of Staysure and the Post Office but others?

Try Saga - insurance specifically for the over 50s!

Thanks, PW - I should have said that I know they've had a quote off SAGA already.

Have a look at MPI brokers. Although mainly a company for backpackers and skiers, I am told they offer a very good policy for the older traveller, and are very good with medical conditions.

LOL! Well, it'll keep them busy! I'm only offering suggestions - elderly traveller does not use tinterweb herself but the friend who is booking does. Have you used any of them, PW - or know of people that have?

Thanks Helen for your suggestion too, I'll pass it on.

Sorry, Normandie, no. My octagenarian mother (and father when he was still alive) happily uses Saga, but I have no personal experience of any of the other holiday insurers. Like I said, this was just what I came up with on a quick Google search.
Hope you get a decent booking from all this work on your part! :D

MPI are quite happy to deal with you by phone. Small independent brokers.

Insure for All gets my vote. My mother is 77 and has all sorts of grim medical history. Insure for All was by far and away the most competitive - around one third of the cost of Saga. Saga are great when people book package holidays through them because travel insurance is automatically included, but they are actually quite pricey for stand alone cover.

Hi Normandie, the post office gets my vote. My 90 year old in-laws had reason to use them a couple of years ago and the service was excellent. The proof of the insurance is in the use and they stepped up to the mark extremely well.

Guest is sorted. She found a company via the moneysupermarket link and has saved about £150. I'm not sure who she actually went with, though. But then, I don't need to know.
