Anyone been approached by Parker David on behalf of Europe-HolidayRentals.com who say they are partners of Iberia and BA?

They are offering 7 days guaranteed booking.
Any experience? Are they trustworthy? Website seems to be full of mistakes which makes one wonder!

I think you've answered your own question

There seem to be dozens of grotty looking sites with 'holidayrentals' somewhere in their name, probably all run from the same scam-factory in India. They usually claim a UK address, but that's often bogus. You will be parting with your money and will get nothing in return. They are no more 'partners' of BA and Iberia than I am Lady Gaga.

Very dodgy - I think the title is key. Any company which feels the need to add a well known site in a combined title has got to ring alarm bells.

Equally, any listing site offering guarantees of a booking should be treated with caution. How can they possibly guarantee it when they don't know whether guests will want to book your place. Complete nonsense.

If it sounds dodgy, it probably is. IMHO.

I have had a listing site telephone and tell me they were 'partnered' with Iberia and British Airways. I didn't believe this but nevertheless took time to investigate it and their site had a few ads on it so that was their idea of 'partnership'. I took pleasure in reporting this when they rang again. That stopped them in their tracks. They did not have that name (I can't remember now which of the various holiday-rentals combination of titles it had) but I suspect it is the same or similar website and the same people running it, in a new guise.

I had the Iberia and BA phone call a couple of weeks ago.
The conversation started with the usual we'd like to book your rental in France. OK I said which house are you interested in ... 'in France', 'yes but where, which one?' 'in France mam'. We looped on this for a while! Then he started on the Iberia/BA tack. (Even if I was remotely interested that's no good for us as they don't fly near us). When I challenged him that he didn't want to book and was just cold-calling to sell advertising he denied that he had called me and got quite shirty! At which point I put the phone down.
I didn't catch the name of the site, but he was working from a script and totally floored if you deviated from it, he just kept repeating his last response. Not the way a reputable site should work.

My first contact started off as though it was a booking enquiry and it was evident he was looking at my calendar on one of the listings (probably Independent Cottages). There was talk of needing a week a month for clients.

Putting together a web-site like that must take an awful lot of effort even if you are lifting from other sources.

Not necessarily that much; if you take a line out of their T&Cs and google it you'll find a number of websites that are all very similar, albeit with different contact details. If we allow a cynical view that says they might just be related, it's not going to take much effort to produce a variation on the original - and it only needs to look good enough to get somebody to part with their money initially and mission accomplished.

Obviously, thanks to your feedback, I should not be wasting time on this but as there was a registered company number given I thought I would look it up. There is no entry for Europe Holiday Rentals. The number given is for Vyom ltd whoever they may be.

The address given on the email is 99 Dellow Close, Ilford but the phone no. is a London no. 0207.

Thank goodness for Lay My Hat. I thought I would check the forum following a call from europeholiday rentals that sounded fishy and somehow familiar. I had completely forgotten that I had queried them here a couple of years ago. He was less persistent or convincing this time so rapidly got rid of but they are still around.

Looks like they started a new company.

Hope weather is warming up in Charente. Just off to Brittany.

As a general rule of thumb, if a company you have never heard of cold-calls you to ask you to advertise with them, it suggests that nobody else has ever heard of them either. Therefore, minimal punter traffic.

Olly, here is our list of holiday rental sites from which you should stay well clear. We keep this list near the phone and once we've identified which company is calling (sometimes using a new number), they are then added to our call blocker (and to this list, if not already here!)

I have included the URLs as well in case the caller just gives their website location. Some bare quite a resemblance to genuine sites.

This should help identify who you have on the phone.

Blocking these phone numbers has drastically reduced the amount of cold-calls (we were getting them daily).

We can thoroughly recommend this little device - https://www.amazon.co.uk/CPR-Capacity-N ... B00JG02ZEY

There is a newer model here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/CPR-V5000-Call ... 0191XMBV2/

We bought our CPR 1200 several years ago now (from a Maplin store in the UK) and it has been absolutely amazing (it works just about everywhere outside the UK as well).

Here's the list -

Great work, Anglodutch. I have had calls from one or two on the list, but sometimes I don't catch the name, because the accent is so thick. The last one kept calling me by my surname throughout, believing I suppose that it was my "first name" or Christian name. Not a nice experience. :o
