Yes you are correct ICI has been replaced with IMU and local councils have also added TARES and TARSU:(

TARES is the rubbish collection but I have no idea what TARSU is and am not sure that I've even paid it yet!!

Everything is now so bl***y complicated that I give up!

Thanks. Indeed & you would think that they would make it easy in order that people can pay as soon as possible.

Surprise, surprise that the tax payer had to calculate his/her own tax.

I used the Councils "Geometra" to calculate my ICI in a private capacity & paid him for it. With his little knowledge of English and my Italian I have no idea how will I resolve this issue ????????????????.

I realise the difficulties for those not speaking the language however if you can find a 'patronato' near you (a trade union office) they do these things for free. It's the only thing the unions are any good at!!

To calculate IMU you need to have your land registry certificate (certificato catastale) which every comune has.

However if you can't find an union office to do your taxes for you then get yourself a good accountant (commercialista).

Buona fortuna!

TARSU is "tassa rifiuti solidi urbani" my bill recently was €199 so not too bad I thought :-)
