The clocks have gone forward.
Summer is officially here (timewise, anyway).
Our first guests will arrive in a few days.
It's time to de-winter and springclean the cottage.
Step one.
Throw open the shutters and grimace at the accumulation of dust and bird muck on them.
Step two.
Listen to OH's suggestion of how to clean the dust off the roller flyscreens.
Step three.
Open the windows, pull down the roller flyscreens, close the windows.
Step four.
Leave hose-wielding OH to wash off the flyscreens and shutters from outside.
Step five.
Realise there's a design fault with the wooden windows that means water gets inside by running down the outside face, onto the windowsill, beneath the bottom of the window and thence down the inside walls.
Step six.
Mop up puddles of muddy water from tiled floors - no carpets, thankfully.
Step seven.
Clean muddy water from windowsills.
Step eight.
Clean muddy watermarks from walls beneath windows.
Step nine.
Spend a whole morning cleaning all the windows and frames, inside and out.
Step ten.
Resolve not to allow OH to clean the flyscreens this way again.
