Owners Direct - Standard Control Procedures

Received this very dodgy e-mail today and was almost fooled but it was sent to an old e-mail address.

Apart from the fact that the tone is unbelievably high-handed for someone who has listed with them for 5 years with no problems, there is no way I would ever send anyone a copy of my credit card.

Be warned!

Dear Owners Direct Owner,

As part of our standard quality control procedures, your account and listings have been selected for further review.
Due to security reasons, we cannot keep your listing live until we receive additional information.
We need to receive the following documentation from you within 10 working days.

Please supply us with the following:

1. A copy of your valid photo ID (driver’s license or passport).
2. Proof of ownership (such as copy of purchase of agreement, deed, or tax bill).
3. An original gas, telephone or other utility bill for the rental property dated within the last 3 months.
4. A copy of your Credit/Debit Card front and back, used to pay for the listing.

If you manage or represent the property on this listing, we will also need the following information:

5. A signed, written letter from the property owner authorizing you to rent the property.
6. A copy of the property owner’s valid photo ID (driver’s license or passport).

Failure to send the required documents in time will lead to your listing being removed from the site.

Please make sure that all information is clear and legible.
You may attach scanned copies of this information to a reply to this email (OwnersdirectEdgarR@consultant.com).
Please include your listing number.

We look forward to hearing back from you soon. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to reply to this email.

Yes they would but not for the credit card part. That is where they are trying to catch you out The other details are fairly normal for making a new property listing.

And when I looked at the OD website under help, there was a warning about this e-mail, so obviously doing the rounds.
