Ever left scratching your head over the abbreviations used when referring to listing sites?

Here's a list of the most commonly used listing sites on LMH:

Abbreviation Site Address
ABB AirBnB http://www.airbnb.com
PLV Pour les Vacances http://www.pour-les-vacances.com
BC Booking.com http://www.booking.com
BF Brittany Ferries http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/holidays
CLE or CV Clévacances http://www.clevacances.com
FK Flipkey http://www.flipkey.com
GDF Gites de France http://www.gites-de-france.com
HA HomeAway http://www.homeaway.com
HL HolidayLettings http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk
H-R Holiday-Rentals http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk
OD OwnersDirect http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk
PG Perfect Getaways http://www.perfectgetaways.co.uk
SCB Self Catering Breaks http://www.self-catering-breaks.com
TA Trip Advisor http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk
VF Visit France http://www.visitfrance.co.uk
YHM Your Holiday Matters http://www.yourholidaymatters.com

The list is not meant to be exhaustive, only to cover the most common.

Hi

Don't be fooled like me.

I have paid a annual fee to holiday lettings for my cottage every year and then only paying commission to PayPal when a guest pays by Paypal

I then payed my annual subscription as I have done ok in the past with my bookings with holiday lettings.

To my horror even if you now pay a annual fee to holiday lettings they now take your guests money and don't pay you till four to five days after the guest has arrived and to top it of they still take 3% commission on top of that.

You might as well take out a free listing and save yourself £400.00.
As usual holiday lettings make it near impossible for a owner to complain with there silly on line question and answers and other gimmicks.

I am very annoyed and fill what a con this is as this was not explained or mentioned when signing again.

Any thoughts or ideas to combat this greatly received.

Thank you.

Hello London

Better to post your message under a new subject in the appropriate forum - the subject of this thread is abbreviations used on LMH.

All the best

Gordo - whilst the list above is out of date, your list is not giving abbreviations, which is what the thread is about and you are mixing in listing sites with agency sites such as Sykes, Welcome Cottages and others. Holiday-rentals of course is a name no longer used and is known as HomeAway. I think your list is rather misleading in its current form.

Ok I've deleted it.

Sorry it was out of date. I got it from HomeAway in the past 48 hours so thought it might be helpful to pass it on - clearly it wasn't.

Second day on here and I'm getting a rough ride already Smile

I did look at your suggestions earlier today, Gordo, but didn't add any to the list as I hadn't time to figure out what they all were and whether people on LMH use them regularly. If you have any that are in common usage here on LMH then I'll happily add them.

Ride 'em cowboy, yee-hah!
