What I do with my FB is 3 things (ha ha if I get time, but this is the plan)

1. I sit down with a sheet of paper, write down the dates for the next month and write a topic beside each day which promotes the cottages. A good way to do it is to look at your website and pick something out. Cover all angles eg types of guests, what might appeal to them, comfortable beds, close to attractions - think of all those positives about your place which you'd tell someone if they asked how great it was. Then get yourself set up on hootsuite, or something similar and link your FB/Twitter accounts. Set aside an hour and schedule all your posts for the next month. Voila - forget about those.

2. Re-post other interesting stuff which others write about your area.

3. Post random / on the spur of the minute stuff to mix it up a bit like current photos, weather, news report, latest availability, cancellations, guest comments.

A mix of the 3 works well but does take time. You get out of it what you put in!

That's very decent of you sharing your plan for FB. It's amazing how many rules/angles there too it but intriguing potential.

Hi

I have just been through this thread to see if there are any 'snippets' I may be able to use/borrow/tweek.

It hasnt been commented on for a couple of years, so......any new ideas that people have to keep your facebook page fresh/interesting/inviting etc ?

Many thanks

Erik

I have yet to find out why some of my postings get loads of views, while others don't. :?

I have started posting photos taken by guests on their days out (with their permission of course!) and those often get a bigger response - probably because they go out to all of their 'friends' too. I am not very computer savvy - as you can probably tell.

I'd love to know that for sure.
Some posts I think will be fantastic don't get much at all, but strangely Facebook is sure that if I 'boost the post' it will do really well.

Not everybody who likes your pages see's every post you do.

I think I may try and do a bit more research on that in the winter months, but I get a feeling that is just down to Facebook and their secret code!

I use IFTT to automate sending my Instagram photos to the FB page. https://ifttt.com

I don't really do much else - though if I do a blog post I link it there. It does get the occasional review and check in from guests, and I think it's nice for people to check we exist, as much as anything else. I do see upcoming guests looking and commenting from time to time.
