owners direct phone scam?!

Post scam emails to warn other rental owners, or if you are not sure if an enquiry is genuine, put it up here and see what others think.

owners direct phone scam?!

Post by Wirksworth13 »

Just had a call from some saying they were from an Asian Marketing agency and asked if I was the owner of my cottage (advertised on OD) - he asked if I could go to my computer - I declined and hung up. Has anyone else experienced this and do you think my account is in danger of being hacked?

No, only if you gave him control of your computer, which you didn't, or if you ever click on a link in an email which then takes you to a false log in and you enter some log in details there. Email links are one of the most common ways now happening of owners inadvertently giving their details away.

Thank you. I know not to click on links in emails. I guess they just trawled through for phone numbers and taking chances then?
