Hi everyone,
does anyone please have any tips for shopping around for the cheapest Heating Oil in France. [We're near Monpazier in the southern Dordogne].
is it a case of ringing round or are there any comparison sites like in the Uk?
many thanks

Heating Oil France
Oil
Hello... We're very new to France and we also use oil for heating. We were recommended Leclerc by a couple of people, and have ordered from them 2-3 times now. Each time, we've paid around 500 Euros including delivery - I'm sorry, I can't remember how much oil that is. We're still dreadful at French, but even so have managed to order it and arrange delivery online, and it usually comes within a day or two; it's very easy, but I'd be interested to hear if there are more competitive suppliers!
Ask around locally, & the Mairie should know as they probably order oil for the school & the like.
Usually the bigger the order the cheaper the price per litre, so when prices were astronomical a few years ago communes would often ring people & group a huge delivery for the whole village.
It has been v cheap recently, I paid 55cts/litre for 1507 litres on 23rd March (supplier in Fumel, Lot et Garonne) and brim-filled the tank.

The price has varied hugely over the last year; we bought 1100 litres at 47 cents a litre about 6 weeks ago, but now it's 55 cents a litre. Start of last year I think the price peaked at well over 80 cents, if I remember rightly.
The price varies depending how much you buy; 500-999 litres is generally 2-3 cents more than 1000+ litres.
I've always used Leclerc as we go there a lot it's easy to monitor their price on the board.
I've visited this site in the past for comparison purposes http://www.fioulmarket.fr/prix-fioul but Leclerc is always the cheapest.

I have used this site for price comparisons and also delivery and found them the cheapest around here in the Charente and delivery was by a local company.
www.fioulmarket.fr
There is also another site www.fioulreduc.com which is having an offer at the moment linked to bulk purchase. Maybe useful to have a look.

Fioiulreduc can beat almost any local price - I got really excited when I found them last year but sadly they won't deliver down our bumpy forest track So we're stuck with the very expensive local companies that have baby camions ...
If you live in a normal house on a normal road though I'd definitely recommend them!

Well around here Leclerc dont have a fioul delivery service, the nearest equivalent is Auchan and their pricing is the same as everyone else.Cassis wrote:Well, fioulreduc is higher than Leclerc here. So I would check around rather than relying on them or the other site (fioulmarket) that I mentioned in the first place.
