ITV have been here for the last few days filming updates for their next programme. Today they filmed us at Vera Post Office where we posted 500 Happy New Year cards to Spanish national, Andalucian and European MPs. The card has a collage of pictures from the day the Prior’s house was demolished on the front and a message inside wishing them a HNY and for a just and intelligent solution to the problems. It also shows the Ministerio de Formento's official graph of house sales since the demolition.

It is local elections this Spring and the major parties are making noises that solutions to the massive urban abuse problems are achievable. The cynical among us aren’t getting too excited though.

Well I do hope you have some success. My heart bleeds for the Priors.

Some more news about the corruption in Spain, which is linked to the prolific house building.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world ... 75200.html
It is not only the Priors who have been affected by this scandal. Even up here in Galicia some quite a number of Spaniards have had their houses knocked down because they were deemed illegal. Some are still awaiting notices.
It is not doing the economy any good.
Never try to out-stubborn your guests.

Some good news at last, the Priors neighbours and friends have learnt that their villa is safe. This can surely only mean good news for the Priors in their continuing fight for compensation and justice.http://www.typicallyspanish.com/news/pu ... 5442.shtml

Well three years on and the Prior's have still not received the compensation they were awarded in the high court, Vera town hall has appealed against the amount although it was a lot less than their lawyers requested.
But, moving on it looks a bit better for the tens of thousands who still have their irregular homes.

A press release translated by AUAN..

A respite for the owners of irregular houses
03/07/2016, 07:00Eva de la Torre
The parliamentary commission approves the amendments to the LOUA requested by the homeowners.

As expected, the Commission for the Environment and Territorial Planning of the Parliament of Andalucía has approved the amendments to the Planning Laws of Andalucía (LOUA) that were demanded by the associations of owners of irregular houses.

Abusos Urbanisticos Almanzora-NO (AUAN) had announced the agreement reached with all the political parties in the parliament after meeting with them some weeks ago and finally, in session last Thursday, the Commission has given the green light to the amendments that, once the process of modifying the LOUA is completed, will allow the regularisation of thousands of houses built on parcelaciones (illegal land divisions).

Meanwhile, the Commission has also approved the amendment which establishes that the irregular houses can obtain, only when they comply with a series of requirements, basic services such as water and electricity for a provisional period of two years whilst the final regularisation of their home takes place.

Contracting water and electricity

This solves the serious problem posed by the fact that the current law prevents a home in an irregular situation having the necessary authorization to contract basic supplies such as light or water.

The amendment refers to parcelaciones allowing the regularization of a house that was constructed on a finca that was segregated even though the planning laws did not permit it.

Have passed the Commission process, it is forecast that the Andalusian Parliament will approve these changes to the legal text in a session in July, according to those affected.

Door opens to revision or annulment
The Andalusian MPs also gave the green light to the modification of the Single Transitory Disposition of the LOUA, that in its current version, excludes homeowners with an unfavourable administrative resolution. The new text opens the door to a revision, revocation or annulment of that administrative resolution.

That's good news Vera. ....but I feel so so sorry that the Priors haven't got their compensating yet. It is absolutely dreadful the way they've been treated.
I hope it comes soon.
