Interesting thoughts amandajane. Similar to you, a lot of our guests travel 3 to 4 hours, often leaving early sat morning and arriving around lunchtime. I can see that most people would prefer this as we offer a fairly early 2pm check in so they are able to make the most of their holiday without taking an extra day off work/school. At the moment I am thinking I will stick with Saturdays in the summer but maybe change to Fridays in the off season and do a bit of an advertising push to attract weekenders.

We changed from Saturday to Friday changeovers a year ago and haven't regretted it. I haven't had a single complaint or request to do Saturday instead. As others have said, it allows us to offer weekend breaks when things are quieter. Previous check out on a Saturday at 10am meant that the rest of that weekend was wasted when it might have suited someone for a Friday to Monday short break.
