It can be difficult to accommodate disabled people - as we had a wheelchair bound son for nearly 20 years, we can see both sides.

We have a downstairs bedroom and bathroom but are not wheelchair friendly as to get from the bathroom via lounge and kitchen, there are two steps and a zig-zag to negotiate in the back hall and narrow doorways all over.

We take the view that if we built from new, we would go for broke on disabled friendly accommodation. However, a Victorian cottage in a conservation area cannot be modified sufficiently, even if the economics worked.
