Unfortunate hyperlink - what would you do?

Post by russellt »

I was searching the internet for accommodation and clicked on a fairly benign-looking property in my search area. It all looked fine, home-made website, a few images and contact details for the couple who own it, etc.

However, the Twitter link links to an array of scantily-clad women offering various services.

What to do? I immediately assumed it had been hacked, or the web-dev had coded an incorrect url. So, I should email them and point out the error. Yes?

But surely they test their links now and again? Or maybe not? Do you?

Or, maybe this IS part of the service

I'm looking for creative ways to let them know, whilst sparing their blushes and not getting one or other of the owners into hot water  What would you do?

(And I'll be checking my links more often too!)

I think its very selfish of you not to share the link with the rest of us

Yes, I'd inform them in a very simple, innocent and non judgemental way. Sounds like their website has been hacked, but no need to rub salt in the wound so to speak.

haha. I think they will be absolutely mortified when they realise. I would be. So, they will remain anonymous. :)

Could be anything (hacked twitter account most likely) , but I'd be really grateful to be told if it was me! :)
