I know, I know but I took a look at the reader comments about the story of increased passport checks leading to longer waits at immigration for passengers from outside the Schengen area.

Amongst the frothing, anti- EU bile and general vilification of anyone not British was this little gem:

Try renting a villa off a Spanish person now, I know of lots of people that can no longer book the same villas they have been going to for years. We have been told that they have to rent them to the French or Germans and not the English anymore. That's on the island of Majorca.
Some guests just need a sympathetic pat. On the head. With a hammer.

Love the French: they respect your property and bring along the gadgets they need but know won't be in a holiday flat.
Dutch are abrasive: pushy-shovey, but they come in July which is good on the Costa Brava.
Germans; nice people, lots of laughs but they don't come here any more.
Russians: come in June and book a month, some are really nice and others not so nice.
BRITS; No thanks! British people expect a holiday let to be like a Thomsons holiday with somebody else cleaning up their "sugar". Scots are moaning gits. (I'm Scottish). The best Brits for me are the folks from London of Carribean origin. They clean up behind themselves.
