fire retardant curtains?

If you are planning to buy a rental home, or you're thinking about what to do with one you have just acquired, this is the place for any questions about starting out in the rentals business.

fire retardant curtains?

Post by Karen&John »

We are getting closer!
A quick add up on cost of made to measure curtains was a shock, so off dunhelms for some off the peg ones.
None of the curtains had any sort of fire retardant treatment and the assistant suggested that we might need this for a holiday let.
She said that a diy treatment may be acceptable to our insurance company (waiting to hear back).
Do others get curtains treated?
What about throws - cotton that is?
Starting to get a head ache!
Any guidance appreciated.

Hi
I shop around when my insurance is due.
Whilst you need fire retardant furniture (which everything is that has been made in the last thirty years or more, and if in doubt it comes labelled as such), I have never been asked a question about fire retardant curtains, or throws etc.

Ps my property is graded by Visit England, and they are usually pretty “hot” (sorry for the pun) about any regulations.
